If you’re anything like me, you go to the gym every day. Oh…you don’t go to the gym every day? LOL I guess some of us (me) are just like, better than everyone else (you)? But seriously (I was being serious), if you, like me, are over the age of 16 (I’m 17), it’s important to be careful while exercising. Here’s a list of my recent injuries — read to ensure you don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made.
- Strained calf muscle
Someone else was running at 9.1 so I had to run at 9.3. Unfortunately, it turns out I cannot comfortably run at 9.3.
- Thrown out back
The skinny girl next to me in class was only lifting 7.5 pound weights, so in order to show her what fitness looks like, I had to lift 12.5 pound weights. Technically I can lift 12.5 pound weights but like…I can’t.
- Pulled gluteus
We did a jump squats challenge in class and I was determined to win, even after a piercing pain shot through my ass cheek. (I did not win.)
- Sore titties
We did a push-up challenge in class and I was determined to win, even after a piercing pain shot through my chest. (I did not win.) The next day, my chest was so achey it felt like my titties were two days pre-period.
- Chipped tooth
The man next to me in class was using 15 pound weights to do chest presses and even though he’s well over a foot taller than me and probably weighs almost 100 pounds more, I thought, “I’m as strong as this guy” and matched him press for press with 15 pounders — until my left arm gave out and I dropped the weight at a very inopportune time and well, you can figure out the rest.
- Skinned knees
The guy next to me was running at 9.3 so I started running at 9.5, then tripped and fell onto my knees on the treadmill. The problem wasn’t that I was running too fast, exactly — it was that I didn’t realize just how bad my UTI was.
- Black eye
Another woman stole my bike in spin class and she wouldn’t give it up, so I tried to get on the back and ride it tandem and she turned around and punched me in the face. She was kicked out and I got the bike, so it all really worked out in the end.
