Announcing The Theme For Next Year’s Met Gala: Look Fucking Hot

On Monday, May 6 of 2018, the Costume Institute will celebrate its love of fashion as it presents “Look Fucking Hot.” Designed to highlight all the sexiest nudes in the Met’s collection, the presentation will occur in several different locations: the Anna Wintour Costume Center, the Met’s Fifth Avenue location and Marquee Nightclub.

Our most straightforward theme ever, it’s intended to celebrate the beauty of the female form. In attendance will be every trendy actress, model, socialite and so-called Instagram hoe, all barely dressed in the most important designers’ finest creations. The theme was inspired by those who’ve attended the event in the past without honoring previous themes, ahem Kim Kardashian, who looked incredible at last year’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” event even though, like almost everyone else there, she failed to even pretend to dress according to theme. (For the record: Madonna doesn’t count — she dresses like that all the time — and Katy Perry took the theme way to far and embarrassed herself yet again.)

Why the uninventive theme? We’ve noticed over the course of the last few years that most attendees dress like they’re going to the Golden Globes, no offense. Salma Hayek, Michelle Williams, Scarlett Johannsen all members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan and countless models who look vaguely familiar but whose names no one knows arrive at the event wearing outfits designed to accomplish one thing and one thing only: make them look fucking hot. Since almost no one but Rihanna and, thankfully, Frances McDormand ever actually seems interested in the artistic portion of the event, we’ve decided to let these exceptionally beautiful women do what they do best and, well, look exceptionally beautiful, like a piece of art or whatever though, to be honest, we’ve officially given up on pretending this is about art.

All that being said, we here at Vogue and our partners at the Metropolitan Museum look forward to seeing what Solange does with the theme. We imagine it will be inventive, inspiring and completely unpredictable and that, as always, she’ll put everyone else to shame.
