What You Don’t Want To Hear When You Get Your Aura Read

  1. I really didn’t connect with the protagonist.
  2. The prose is pretentious yet the story is slight.
  3. I didn’t understand the main character’s issues with her father at all.
  4. The narrator seemed unreliable — in more ways than one.
  5. Are you sure this is nonfiction? It seems…embellished.
  6. The story just isn’t the least bit compelling.
  7. The author seems to have been inspired by Jonathan Franzen.
  8. The protagonist lack self-awareness.
  9. There are a lot of holes in the narrative.
  10. I found the villain very sympathetic.
  11. It all kind of falls apart in the third act.
  12. The ending is so tragic it veers into comedy.
  13. I hate to ask this but I have to — did you plagiarize parts of the story? Or does it just seem familiar because it’s so generic?
  14. To be perfectly honest, it’s a mess. It’s all a total mess.
  15. At this point, I think it’s best to throw everything out and start over completely.
