Instagram stories are the perfect way to get your new crush to notice you! But sometimes your crush is too busy to view your story in time and it can be frustrating to say the least. Don’t despair though! Here are some common reasons why they may not be looking at your story and what you can do.

1. Climate Change: Ugh ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, scientists are saying we don’t have much time left, and worst of all, you’re dating one of those scientists! Unfortunately, that means long hours, constant worry about the world ending, and worst of all they’re never on their phone! When they do check your story, they message you “Hey why are people taking pictures with the beached whale and not saving it?” Don’t take it too personally when he/she doesn’t check your story because you’re with someone who wants to make the world a better place. Just be sure to post environmentally conscious stories every once in a while.
2. Immigration: This one is tricky depending on their immigration status (ugh politics). Some of them may be genuinely concerned for the safety of their family and friends. Unfortunately, all of that constant worry leads to using their phones for research or reading the news and less time looking at your sexy dog selfie (It’s cute! Don’t delete it). Next time you want them to watch your story, just post a story about how you hate recent immigration policies and send it DIRECTLY. Make sure you choose a cute filter!
3. Civil Unrest: Does your crush live far away? Do you curate your IG stories for this long distance crush? STOP! Especially if they live in the following regions: Venezuela, Yemen, Ukraine, America soon (apparently) etc. Trust me if they saw your IG story selfie, they’d be like “HOLY SHIT! Looking AMAZING” but in whatever language they speak. Let this period of unrest pass and then I promise they’ll look at all your stories. Until then, don’t post about how you “don’t get politics” and “just be positive.” That doesn’t work- trust me!
