
“Can I trust you with a secret?” Brad whispered in the corner of his neighbor Joe’s living room while pregame festivities flickered on Joe’s big-screen TV.
“Sure,” Joe nodded. They weren’t exactly friends, but they’d shared a rented wood chipper after last year’s windstorm, and their kids played together in the quiet streets.
“How many teams are in the Super Bowl?” Brad asked. “I’ve never paid attention. Is it only one game? Does the winner play teams from other countries?”
Joe patted Brad’s shoulder, patiently answered his questions, and contemplated trust–especially who he would trust to tell this secret.
